"Shopobill was instrumental in our market entry. Their incentive programs for convenience stores enabled us to quickly build distribution and accelerate our go-to-market strategy."Alex Shturbin, Commercial Director, Ignite
Ignite entered a $3B disposable vape market with brand recognition, but no advocacy at the point of sale. Distributors were getting product onto shelves across vape shops, smoke shops, and convenience stores. Sales reps were opening new accounts. But in a crowded nicotine category with dozens of competing brands per store, shelf presence alone wasn't enough. Clerks had no reason to pick Ignite over anything else.
Shopobill's sales incentive platform became the sell-out velocity tool that changed this, working alongside Ignite's distributors and sales teams from day one. The program started with cashier incentives and receipt-based retail staff rewards, then expanded into referral mechanics and real-time analytics. In 15 months, tracked sales grew from 301 products in month one to over 20,000 per month. $3.6 million in total revenue through the platform.
Impact highlights
- 170,552 products sold through participating retailers, verified via 154,685 accepted receipt uploads (93% validation rate)
- $3.6M in tracked revenue: from zero to $375–440K/month through the platform
- 2,791 retail outlets activated from zero, across tobacco specialist chains, hookah specialist chains, and 2,000+ independent stores
- 4,446 retail staff enrolled 3,496 (79%) actively uploading receipts
- 20,000+ products/month at peak, up from 301 products in the program's first month
Product on shelves, but no one selling it
In a typical vape shop, smoke shop, or convenience store, the clerk sees dozens of competing vape brands on the shelf. Without a reason to recommend Ignite specifically, the default is whatever brand the clerk already knows.
Ignite's distributors and sales reps were opening new accounts every week, but getting product onto shelves is only half the job. Relying solely on field reps to build clerk relationships store by store couldn't keep pace with distribution expansion.
- No store-level sell-out data
Ignite could see what they shipped to distributors, but had no visibility into what actually sold to consumers at each store. Excel reports took a full day per month to compile manually. - Zero clerk advocacy
Retail staff had no product education on Ignite, no reason to recommend it, and no relationship with the brand. In a category where a clerk recommendation drives the majority of purchase decisions, this was a fatal gap. - Manual processes that couldn't scale
Any incentive or education effort required physical visits, paper tracking, and manual payouts. Workable for 50 stores, impossible for 2,000+.
The solution had to onboard retail staff at scale with clerk incentives, track real sales through receipt verification, and give Ignite's commercial team live visibility into what was actually selling.
Incentivizing retail staff with receipt-based rewards
A clerk sells an Ignite device, photographs the receipt, uploads it through their Shopobill dashboard. It's a mobile website with 10-second registration, no app needed. AI recognizes the SKU, verifies the transaction, and credits points within seconds. Reward rate: 100 points per device, the highest in the category and the #1 reason clerks preferred Ignite's program.
How it works
- Clerk registers via mobile website link or QR code scan. One-click OTP registration, no app needed
- Sells an Ignite product at the store as they normally would
- Snaps the receipt directly inside the program
- AI validates the receipt (93% acceptance rate, seconds to process) and credits points to their account
- Clerk redeems points for direct bank transfer, gift cards, or branded merchandise (hoodies, t-shirts, caps)
Closed-loop system: every sale tracked, every clerk rewarded, Ignite gets granular sell-out data. Volume bonuses add tiered rewards for clerks who hit monthly thresholds.
Building a retail network from zero through referrals
Ignite embedded the program directly into the distribution process to recruit new sellers from day one.
How they built the network
- Onboarding materials in every product batch.
Stickers on outer cases and leaflets inside each shipment explained the bonus program and how to register. The QR code linked directly to the Ignite-branded Shopobill registration page. - In-store promo activation in key markets.
In high-density cities, dedicated brand ambassadors visited stores to personally onboard clerks: demonstrating the registration process, explaining the reward structure, and answering questions face to face. - Distributor sales reps as onboarding agents.
Shopobill's field rep mechanic gave distributor sales reps their own referral links. Every clerk they onboarded who then submitted a receipt earned the rep a bonus, turning the existing distribution network into a recruitment engine. - "Bring a friend" referral mechanic.
Active clerks could invite colleagues from other stores via a personal referral link. The referrer's bonus (200 points) is credited only after the invited friend uploads 10 receipts, ensuring only genuinely active sellers generate referral rewards.
This multi-channel approach drove consistent weekly additions: onboarding leaflets, in-person activation, distributor reps, and peer referrals. The network grew from zero to 2,791 activated outlets in 15 months, and continuing to scale.
Real-time retail analytics replacing manual reporting
Before Shopobill: one team member spent a full day per month pulling transaction data, cross-referencing distributor reports, formatting Excel. By the time analysis was ready, it was outdated.
What the Shopobill dashboard replaced
- 📍 Geographic sales heat map
Which cities, regions, and specific stores sell the most. Where are the gaps. Where is growth accelerating. - 📦 Product mix analysis
Which device models sell best in which channels. What the basket looks like at different store types. - 📊 Participant funnel
How many clerks registered, how many uploaded their first receipt, how many are active monthly, where the drop-offs happen. - 🏪 Retail chain performance
Which distributors and retail chains generate the most sales. Where to focus commercial efforts next. - 🔍 Competitive signals
Receipt data captures the full basket, not just Ignite products. The team can see which competing brands appear most frequently alongside Ignite on the same receipts.

Tobacco and hookah specialist chains account for 42% of receipts, with independent stores contributing 58%. Participant lifetime value: $1,138 per user.
This shift from monthly Excel to live dashboard changed how the commercial team operates. When the analytics showed that 21% of registered clerks had never uploaded a single receipt, the team immediately launched a targeted re-engagement campaign: bonus coupons that could only be redeemed by uploading a qualifying receipt. That kind of rapid, data-driven adjustment is only possible with real-time visibility.
From zero to $3.6M in tracked sell-out in 15 months
All numbers below reflect a program that started from zero and is still growing. The 15-month window captures the ramp-up phase: month one had 301 products sold, the most recent months consistently exceed 20,000.
Ignite's distribution expansion combined with Shopobill-powered retail activation created a repeatable trade marketing engine: every new outlet connected to the sales incentive program, every sale tracked, the commercial team seeing what worked in real time.
